Conference Wrap up
The Strategic Regional Leadership for innovation Conference 2011 was the 2nd annual conference on Regional Development on the Mid North Coast. The 2011 conference was a huge success with 27 sponsors and partners and attracted over 300 attendees to the conference and workshop.
The conference examined the questions of leadership for innovation and identified the catalysts for change. It was determined that Leadership is fundamental to the growth and revitalisation of regional and urban communities. Innovation is the imperative to encouraging growth and investment in new industries, media, social capital and the new regional society. Keynote speakers included Simon Crean - Minister for Regional Australia, Andrew Stoner - Deputy Premier NSW, Robert Oakeshott - Federal Member for Lyne, Dr. Markku Sotarauta - The University of Tampere, Finland and Andrew Beer - The University of Adelaide. We would like to thank all our speakers who took time out of their day to share their valuable insights and ensure the success of the conference.
The conference also hosted the launch of the RDA Mid North Coast's Digital Strategy. The report has been prepared by Dr Tim Williams to assist the Mid North Coast with both its readiness and the opportunity that High Speed Broadband presents to the region.
Regional Development Australia - Mid North Coast would like to thank the extensive list of event sponsors and attendees who took part in the conference this year. The event success relies on everyone of you! In particular we would like to thank the Department of Trade and Investment , Regional Infrastructure & Services (DITRIS) for the support received.
